Travel Costs are going up...again

Just reading an article in USA Today about Airfare going up (as it almost always does) this holiday season. I thought to myself "Airfare keeps going up and up, and they're charging an arm and a leg for most things on top of that". If I were to travel, I'd either drive, take the train or take the bus to get to where I need to go. How do you think that the Airlines and other companies can reduce travelers costs when they travel throughout the year? I think that they ought to eliminate the charges for bags and other things that used to be complimentary.
